Digital Product Passport (DPP): The future of the circular economy and product transparency
New EU legislative frameworks are pushing companies towards greater transparency on the environmental impact of their products. One key instrument in this transition is the Digital Product Passport (DPP) – a central element of the European strategy to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
If you work in manufacturing, procurement, supply chain management or sustainability (ESG), the DPP will soon be part of your everyday life. Although not yet fully implemented, the requirements are being implemented quickly, bringing new obligations related to product data, traceability and environmental impact reporting.
What is a Digital Product Passport (DPP)?
A digital product passport is a digital record attached to a product that contains detailed information about the materials used, sustainability profile, production history and more. Under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), DPPs will become mandatory for many products placed on the EU market.
Why DPPs are important for businesses
The DPP not only represents new compliance requirements, but also a significant business opportunity. It allows companies to increase transparency, use resources more efficiently, and strengthen their sustainability reputation.
Mr. Albin Kälin , a representative of the company epeaswitzerland gmbh , will lecture on these topics to members of SRIP – Circular Economy on November 20th.
